The houses in Havering
Havering is the easternmost London borough and it is mostly suburban: mile after mile of 1930s semis around Romford, Hornchurch, Gidea Park and Upminster, post-war estates at Harold Hill and Elm Park, and older village centres at Rainham, Hornchurch and Upminster.
That stock is what we work on all week. Rear and side-return extensions, dormer and hip-to-gable lofts, full kitchen and bathroom renovations, and garden rooms at the end of gardens that were built long enough to take one.
Planning in Havering
Planning and building control for the whole borough sit with Havering Council. A good share of extensions and lofts can go through under permitted development, and where a full application is needed we bring in our architect for the drawings and handle the submission as part of the job.
Because we are based in Rainham, nowhere in the borough is more than a short drive. We can be on site early, fit a first visit in around a live job, and come back after sign-off without it being a special trip.
A local team, not a national one
Around Havering we also cover Romford, Gidea Park, Harold Hill, Collier Row and the surrounding area. Planning applications go to Havering Council, and we handle them as part of the job.
- The same team on your Havering job, start to finish
- Three sit-down consultations before any work begins
- Stage payments across the project, so you pay as the work is done
- Clear written quotes with nothing hidden in them
- Fully insured, and tidy on site
“Fletcher and his team were amazing. They were incredibly knowledgeable of each area of trade, listened to what we wanted and said if it was viable or not and had fantastic communication. … We got a detailed quote that showed what we were getting for our money right down to how many plugs would be installed. The payment plan ensured we didn't have to worry about paying upfront for anything and then the team disappearing.”

Building in Havering: common questions
Which parts of Havering do you cover?
All of it. Rainham, Hornchurch, Upminster, Romford, Elm Park, Emerson Park, Gidea Park, Harold Wood, Harold Hill, Collier Row and Cranham are all a short drive from the yard.
Do you handle the planning application with Havering Council?
Yes, where one is needed. We bring in our architect for the drawings and handle the application as part of the job, and we deal with building control inspections during the build. Where the work is permitted development we tell you so and skip the application.
How is a job paid for?
In stages as the work is completed, agreed in writing before we start, never everything up front. Each stage is tied to a part of the build being finished, so you are only ever paying for work you can see.
