About F.W.S Builders
The same team on your job, from start to finish
We are an established building firm based in Rainham, working across Havering and south Essex. You always know who is turning up, and we take on the whole job rather than handing it round.

The team that quotes your job is the team that builds it. There is no sales rep, and nothing gets handed to a stranger halfway through.
F.W.S Builders is run by Fletcher Smith. We handle extensions, loft conversions, kitchens, bathrooms and garden rooms in-house, from the groundworks and the structural side through to the plastering and the final coat of paint, and each project keeps the people who started it.
Most of our work comes through recommendation, which is the only kind of marketing that matters in this trade. People pass your name on when you turn up when you said you would, tell them the truth about what a job will cost, and leave the place tidy at the end of the day.
The part that surprises people is how much time we spend before we start. We sit down with you three times before anything is knocked down: once to understand what you actually want, once to go through the layout and the materials properly, and once to walk through the final plan and the price. It costs us a few evenings. It saves everybody the arguments that come from assumptions nobody wrote down.
- The same team from the first visit to the final walk-round
- Three sit-down consultations before any work begins
- Stage payments across the project, so you pay as the work is done
- Clean, considerate sites that respect your home
- Straight-talking written quotes with no hidden extras

We come out, see the space, talk through what you want and tell you what is realistic before anyone talks money.
We sit down together, three times
Not a doorstep chat and a number on the back of an envelope. Three proper conversations before a single tool comes out, so nothing is left to assumption.
The build
The same team on site from start to finish, kept tidy and on schedule, with you updated as the work moves on. You pay in stages as each part of the work is completed, never everything up front.
Final walk-round
We go through the finished work with you, room by room, before the job is signed off.
Thinking about a project?
Tell us what you have in mind and we will come out, take a proper look and give you a clear written quote before you decide anything.
Rainham, Havering and south Essex
We are based in Rainham and most of our jobs are within ten miles or so of it. If you are a bit further out it is still worth asking, since we travel for the right job.
“Fletcher and his team did a 5 metre extension on my kitchen, installed a new kitchen, new doors and new floorboards throughout the downstairs.”
